International Tuesday meets Future2Go

Under the slogan *Potsdam open „Unlike as you think …“ we present this months Future2Go in cooperation with the format International Tuesday live at the Inselbühne Potsdam. Why? Because we think it is very interesting to present the topic of founding as an International here in Germany in a little more detail.

Our guests are 2 founders who both came to Germany to do research and are now building their own startup.

Dr.-Ing. Natalia Realpe Carrillo is CEO of the company HEDERA Sustainable Solutions GmbH with headquarters at Potsdam Science Park:

„I engaged as entrepreneur in order to bring research results to the microfinance sector engaging in energy access and exploit the untapped potential of microfinance institutions to commit to sustainable development by enabling access to basic services. As I finished my PhD, the EXIST Program offered an ideal framework to fully commit to develop my business idea, put to test and bring to live our minimal value proposition and receive direct feedback of microfinance stakeholders of our digital solutions. Being an entrepreneur is one the most exciting and challenging adventures I have ever taken in my life.““

Muhammad Sukmana & Nils Karn are founders of the startup Resility GmbH:

Nils is a certified Design Thinker from the HPI D-School with years of experience within the business as well as startup field focussing on user centered design. Muhammad is scientist and cloud security specialist at HPI. The career of Ihsan went from science to company by including his research into the startup. They developed the tool Mitigant for securing public clouds and founded as a team of four the Resility GmbH.

About Future2Go:

Future2Go is an informal lecture series on career paths presented by alumni from various institutes at the Potsdam Science Park. Students, PhDs and PostDocs can learn about alternatives to an academic research career: How do you apply for and obtain a patent? How do you found a new company? This time we have guest speaker located at the Startup Space in Golm Innovationcenter (GO:IN) at Potsdam Science Park. At this evening we will be supported and accompanied by Adam Wendler.

Adam Wendler, a multi-instrumentalist from the small town of Goderich, Canada, currently based in Berlin, has come a long way since picking up the guitar and starting to write songs at the age of 15. He first came to Berlin in 2017 and has played over 400 concerts in Germany and Canada since then, including performances at Open Flair, Live at Heart and the Kingsville Folk Music Festival as well as support shows for Ryan Sheridan, the Arkells, Post Animal and Matt Mays. Besides perfecting his one-man-band setup, Adam has received critical acclaim for his many thought provoking and elaborate music videos and has had his live performances featured on YouTube channels such as Balcony TV and Berlin Sessions. Several of his songs have ranked in the Singer-Songwriter iTunes charts leading to airplay on national radio in both Canada and Germany (such as radioeins, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, SWR3, MDR Jump, SR1, Big FM & CBC Radio). Since 2018 Adam has also been continuously collaborating with songwriters and producers in the European music scene, featuring on and co-writing tracks by artists such as B Young, Meynberg, Henri Purnell and Pacific. He is known for having no musical boundaries; blending pop elements with folk, country, indie and a touch of rock, he’s got something for everyone, with his latest single ‘Holding On’ being his finest work to date.

Unter dem Motto *Potsdam open „Anders als man denkt …“ präsentieren wir diesen Monat unsere Vorlesungsreihe Future2Go in Kooperation mit dem Format International Tuesday live auf der Inselbühne Potsdam. Warum? Weil wir es sehr interessant finden, das Thema Gründung als International hier in Deutschland ein wenig näher zu beleuchten.

Unsere Gäste sind 2 Gründer, die beide zu Forschungszwecken nach Deutschland gekommen sind und nun ihr eigenes Startup aufbauen.

„Ich habe mich als Unternehmerin engagiert, um Forschungsergebnisse in den Mikrofinanzsektor einzubringen, der sich im Bereich des Energiezugangs engagiert, und um das ungenutzte Potenzial von Mikrofinanzinstitutionen zu nutzen, sich für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung zu engagieren, indem sie den Zugang zu Basisdienstleistungen ermöglichen. Als ich meine Promotion abgeschlossen hatte, bot das EXIST-Programm einen idealen Rahmen, um mich voll und ganz der Entwicklung meiner Geschäftsidee zu widmen, unser Nutzenversprechen zu testen und in die Praxis umzusetzen und direktes Feedback von Mikrofinanz-Stakeholdern zu unseren digitalen Lösungen zu erhalten. Unternehmer zu sein, ist eines der aufregendsten und herausforderndsten Abenteuer, die ich je in meinem Leben erlebt habe.“

Nils ist zertifizierter Design Thinker von der HPI D-School mit jahrelanger Erfahrung im Business- und Startup-Bereich mit Fokus auf User Centered Design. Muhammad ist Wissenschaftler und Cloud-Security-Spezialist am HPI. Die Karriere von Ihsan ging von der Wissenschaft zum Unternehmen, indem er seine Forschung in das Startup einbrachte. Sie entwickelten das Tool Mitigant zur Absicherung von Public Clouds und gründeten als vierköpfiges Team die Resility GmbH.

Ihre Daten werden nach 14 Tagen wieder gelöscht. Im gesamten Veranstaltungsbereich gilt eine Abstandsregel von 1,5 Metern. Am Sitzplatz reduziert sich dieser Abstand auf 1 Metern (2 freie Plätze) zwischen den Infektionsgemeinschaften.
