Guests at the International Tuesday on Tuesday, October 12th, are the Director of the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB), Prof. Dr Barbara Sturm and the proven beer expert and owner of BIERLESE in Potsdam, Eike Neubarth. Mrs. Sturm, who holds a doctorate in process engineering, will talk about the Germans‘ favorite drink and about the socio-cultural history of beer brewing and beer consumption in times of climate change. Mr. Neubarth explains the nuances of beer while we taste it: What is the difference between Pilsner and Helles? What is actually Zwickel and Bock beer? How does the Gulf Stream influence the way beer is brewed? Adam Wendler, multi-instrumentalist from the Canadian town of Goderich, joins the event. His songs combine pop elements with folk, country, indie and a touch of rock.

Vortrag und Verkostung – es geht um Bier

Zu Gast beim International Tuesday am 12. Oktober sind die Direktorin des Leibniz-Instituts für Agrartechnik und Bioökonomie (ATB), Prof. Dr. Barbara Sturm und der ausgewiesene Bierexperte und Inhaber der BIERLESE in Potsdam, Eike Neubarth. Frau Sturm, promovierte Verfahrenstechnikerin, erzählt anekdotisch über das Lieblingsgetränk der Deutschen und von der soziokulturellen Geschichte des Bierbrauens und des Bierkonsums in Zeiten des Klimawandels. Natürlich geht es auch um Stammwürze, Brauprozesse, das Reinheitsgebot und um Geschmack. Herr Neubarth erklärt die Nuancen des Biergeschmacks beim Verkosten. Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Pils und Hellem? Was ist eigentlich Zwickel? Und Bockbier? Was hat der Golfstrom mit der Art zu tun, Bier zu brauen? Adam Wendler, Multiinstrumentalist aus der kanadischen Kleinstadt Goderich, begleitet diesen Abend musikalisch. In seinen Songs kombiniert er Pop Elemente mit Folk, Country, Indie und einem Hauch von Rock.
